Changing the front headlight of a motorcycle may be necessary for several reasons:

    • Wear : Motorcycle headlights are subject to harsh driving conditions, including to vibrations, shocks, heat and bad weather. Over time, headlight bulbs can wear out and lose brightness, reducing visibility at night or in bad weather. In this case, it is recommended to replace them to ensure good visibility on the road.

    • Breakdown : Like any electrical component, headlights can fail due to a short circuit, faulty connection or other electrical problems. If your headlight isn't working at all, it may need to be replaced.

    • Upgrade : Some motorcyclists choose to replace their original headlight with a model more efficient Or aesthetically different. For example, they can opt for an LED motorcycle headlight, which offers better visibility, longer lifespan and lower energy consumption compared to traditional bulbs. It can also improve the overall appearance of the motorcycle.

    • Standardization : Your motorcycle has a poor quality headlight. In order to meet traffic standards, you want to install an approved headlight. These have the "E" mark often written on the projector glass. They have the “approved” mention on our site.

First of all, what are the types of motorcycle headlights?

There are many types of headlights for motorcycles, here are some of the most common:

    • Halogen headlights: Halogen headlights are the most commonly used type of headlights on motorcycles. They use a halogen bulb standard that produces light by passing an electric current through a filament. Halogen headlights offer decent brightness, but they have a shorter lifespan compared to other newer types of headlights. They are by theirook retro, often used as a vintage motorcycle headlight.

    • LED headlights: The LED (Light-Emitting Diode) motorcycle headlight is becoming more and more popular. They use light-emitting diodes to produce light. The LED headlights are brighter than halogen headlights, consume less energy, have a longer lifespan and offer better visibility. They are also available in a variety of colors and designs. Indeed you can find a round motorcycle headlight with a more designer shape because of this modular technology.

    • Xenon headlights: Xenon headlights, also known as HID (High-Intensity Discharge) headlights, use an electric arc discharge to produce light. They offer aIncreased brightness and visibility compared to halogen headlights, but they require a special ballast and ignition to function properly.

    • Adaptive headlights: Adaptive headlights are headlights that automatically adjust according to driving conditions. They can include features such as directional lighting systems, which pivot with the movement of the handlebars to illuminate the road when cornering. These headlights improve visibility and safety at night or in difficult driving conditions.

    • Additional headlights: Additional headlights are additional lights installed on a vehicle to improve lighting. They are often used in situations where increased visibility is needed, such as night driving, off-road driving, or in adverse weather conditions.

    • Lighthouse plate: The motorcycle headlight plate is often made up of a bulb-type motorcycle optic in a fairing which aesthetically surrounds the lighting. This type of headlight is often used in Motocross (enduro), Scrambler, Flat track, Tracker, Trail and Supermotard.

    Concerning the additional motorcycle headlight:

There are several types of additional headlights, each with their own specific characteristics and applications:

    • Fog lights: These headlights are designed to illuminate the road in harsh conditions. fog, snow or heavy rain. They are mounted low on the vehicle to reduce light reflection and improve visibility in low visibility conditions. Very practical at night when your motorcycle is not equipped with a directional headlight, these projectors allow you to illuminate the inside of the bend and thus allow you to take the best trajectory in complete safety.

    • Long-range headlights: These headlights are designed to project an intense beam of light over a long distance, thereby improving visibility when driving at night on open roads. They are usually mounted on the upper part of the vehicle.

    • Light Bar Headlights: It is a bar containing several LEDs, providing powerful and uniform lighting over a large area. Light bar headlights are often used on off-road vehicles kind Trail Or Scrambler to illuminate surrounding areas.

How to choose your front headlight?

The choice of front headlights for a motorcycle depends on several important factors. Here are some points to consider when selecting headlights for your motorcycle:

    1. Type of motorcycle: Different types of motorcycles may require specific headlights depending on their design and usage. For example, a sport motorcycle may need headlights with a long-throw projection for increased visibility at high speeds, while an off-road motorcycle may require more robust, vibration-resistant headlights.
    2. Style and aesthetics: The front headlights also contribute to the overall appearance of the motorcycle. If you want to personalize the aesthetics of your motorcycle, you can choose from a variety of headlight styles, such as round headlights, rectangular headlights, LED headlights or headlights with special patterns.
    3. Light performance: Consider the power and lighting quality of the front headlights. LED headlights are generally brighter, more efficient and have a longer lifespan compared to traditional halogen headlights. Make sure the chosen headlights provide adequate visibility for safe driving in different conditions, whether at night, in the rain or in fog.
    4. Facility : Check the compatibility of the front headlights with your motorcycle in terms of mounting and electrical connection. Some headlights may require modifications or adapters to properly fit your motorcycle.

How to connect a motorcycle headlight?

Connecting a motorcycle headlight may vary depending on the specific model of motorcycle and the type of headlight you are using. However, here are the general steps for connecting a motorcycle headlight:

    1. Preparation : Make sure the motorcycle is turned off and the battery is disconnected to avoid any short circuit or electrical hazard.
    2. Removing the old headlight (if necessary): If you are replacing an existing headlight, you will need to remove the old headlight first. This may involve removing screws or other fasteners that hold the headlight in place. Consult your motorcycle's owner's manual or look for model-specific instructions to guide you.
    3. Checking existing wiring: Before plugging in the new headlight, check the motorcycle's existing wiring. Make sure it is in good condition and that there are no damaged wires or loose connections.
    4. Connecting the wires of the new headlight: At Remmotorcycle all our products have their electrical wire connections that you will easily find in the description of the item sheet. Please note, we take particular care when connecting LED type headlights. This may require specific installation. Like the resistance connection upstream of the harness. In the majority of cases this results in weak or non-existent lighting. To quickly rule out a defective headlight, connect the headlight wires directly to your battery terminals.
    5. Switch connection (if applicable): If your new headlight has a separate switch, you will also need to connect the switch wires to the motorcycle's electrical system. This may involve connecting to existing power cables or a separate wiring harness. Often the case for additional headlights as seen above.
    6. Attaching the new headlight: Once the electrical connections have been made, securely attach the new headlight to the motorcycle using the appropriate screws or fasteners. Make sure it is properly aligned and secure.
    7. Checking operation: Once everything is plugged in and secured, reconnect the battery and turn on the motorcycle to check the operation of the new headlight. Make sure it turns on properly and works as expected.

It is important to note that motorcycles may have different electrical systems and specific wiring diagrams. If you encounter problems during your connection, contact the team Remmotorcycle which will help you pass this step easily.

How to adjust a motorcycle headlight?

Adjusting a motorcycle's headlights is essential to ensure optimal visibility while avoiding dazzling other drivers. Here are the general steps for adjusting a motorcycle headlight:

    1. Preparation : Park your motorcycle on a level surface, facing a wall or garage with plenty of room to back up. We advise you to equip yourself to reproduce the loaded weight on your motorcycle.
    2. Horizontal level: Make sure the motorcycle is straight and level. Use a level if necessary to achieve a perfectly horizontal position.
    3. Vertical adjustment: Turn on the motorcycle headlights and watch the light beams project onto the wall or garage. Headlights should be adjusted so that they illuminate the road ahead without dazzling other drivers. Generally, light beams should be slightly lower than the horizon line. As a general rule, 5 meters from the wall, your light beam should be 10 cm lower than the height of your headlight.
    4. Adjustment of set screws: The headlights of most motorcycles are equipped with adjustment screws to adjust the height of the headlights. These screws are usually located on the back or sides of the headlights. Use a screwdriver or appropriate wrench to adjust the adjustment screws, turning clockwise or counterclockwise to increase or decrease the height of the headlights respectively.
    5. Repeat for the other headlight (if applicable): If your motorcycle has dual headlights, repeat the same steps to adjust the second headlight.

It is important to note that these steps may vary slightly depending on the specific model of your motorcycle. Always refer to User Manual of your motorcycle for specific instructions on adjusting the headlights.

If you experience difficulty or are unsure of the procedure, it is recommended that you Contact us to adjust the headlights of your motorcycle.
