In appearance, it is an oxymoron. Harley-Davidson, synonymous with large cubes and cruisers, associated with Café Racer, A category of light and sporty motorcycles, designed for short fast races?
And yet, this combination gave birth to unique and fascinating machines.
Harley-Davidson, more oriented towards Grand Tourism and Custom, has repeatedly tried to embark on the "sports" segment.
The most famous of these attempts is the Xlcr, produced in 1977. A machine very different from the other Harley of the time, with a fairing, disk brakes and a modified sports engine.
Corban Gallagher, nuclear chemist, is known for his ingenuity and precision in his work. When he takes a break, he devoted himself to the creation of personalized motorcycles.
Corban decided to build a low -budget "Grand Prix" motorcycle, mainly using recovered parts.
From a framework of Sportster 1996 rugged and a rear shock absorber of a Ducati 900SS 1998, he assembled a single machine.
The engine, a Sportster XL1200 From 1997, was fully revised and improved thanks to performance parts.
Corban also designed a new swingarm to accommodate the rear shock of the Ducati and a 200 mm rear tire.
The rest of the cycle part comes from a Buell XB9R 2003, notably the wheels and the front brake.
For the bodywork, Corban opted for a mixture of styles from the 70s and 90s, with a fairing before Triumph, a tank of Norton Manx and a Racing style rear saddle.
The result is successful. Bravo Corban!
Based on a 1994 Harley-Davidson Sportster, "Project7", directed by the workshop Motorcycle Solace, is a racer coffee picked up and compact with neat design.
The first step was to replace the wheels with 18 -inch rims at the front and 17 inches at the back.
Thick tires, a classic at the front and a huge rear tire of the brand drag rack Hoosier, set the tone for construction.
The clip-on handlebar requires a sporting driving position, offset by specially modified remote controls.
The cockpit also includes mirrors and handlebars of the handlebars, as well as a Lucas P700 lighthouse.
The fuel, oil, saddle and mudguard tank were made to measure by Brilliant Motorcycle.
Initially a Sportster 883, the displacement was increased to 1200 cc.
The original belt transmission has been replaced by a chain, offering more flexibility for speed reports.
The air intake is equipped with an air intake and the exhaust is a custom -made stainless steel system.
Long, low and aggressive, Café Racer Sportster De Solace may not be the most practical, but after all, the Coffee Racers are not renowned for their practical side, right?
