    SCRAMBLER SCRAMBLER

How to turn your motorcycle into a scrambler?

After seeing in this article What is a scrambler? It's time to get down to business and find out how to turn a motorcycle into a scrambler .

The transformation of a motorcycle goes through different stages to follow in order to achieve the neo-retro all-terrain motorcycle of our dreams.

The first step is the definition of the project , knowing what we want, followed by the search for a basis for the project, the parts and the modifications to be made to the bike. Finally we can savor the result.

    1. Definition of the scrambler motorcycle project.

After spending hours looking at photos or videos and discovering the world of scrambler type motorcycles . That's it, you've decided; You want a scramble r motorcycle , and you want to do it yourself .

Today, with the help of Instagram, Pinterest and Google Image, we have many opportunities to get inspired, research our favorite topics and find information about scramblers .

Pinterest search for an "end of the world" type scrambler:

    scrambler walking dead

The approach often used is to group the photos that inspire us . With these photos, we can get an idea of the style, the important elements that we want for our scrambler motorcycle project.

Photo found on Google Image of a Rat's type scrambler motorcycle.

We can make a mix of inspirations, create shapes and visuals to achieve the objective.

Once our idea is clear and defined in our head, we can put it on paper, in a drawing, or make a photoshop.

Or quite simply start the realization only with the idea in mind. Many preparers make their bikes without putting it on paper or computer. It depends on individual sensitivity .

    2. Find the base for your scrambler motorcycle

No matter the displacement or the model you choose, a scrambler motorcycle is made for adventure , that's the scrambler spirit .

Once the project is defined, we look for a base that will suit our project and our budget .

The base can be the same model as one of our inspirations or a different model, it doesn't matter.

For A1 and B licenses, we have dedicated an article on the best bases for 125 scramblers .

Here are the most common and most requested bases for the A2 license.

Here is a full article on the subject.

    3. Amendments

That's it, you have your base. It's time to move on to modifications .

The modifications will be more or less important depending on the basis you have chosen for the project .

The modifications can go as far as modifying the frame, changing the front and rear axles, engine preparation, spoked rims, suspension travel, etc...

We are talking here about the basic modifications in order to have a scrambler motorcycle.

    • A saddle
    • High fenders
    • All-terrain tires
    • The wide handlebar
    • The front headlight with a protective grid
    • The raised back loop
    • The top exhaust
    • The suspensions
    • A clog
    • Fork gaiters
    • Other parts common to motorcycles (speedometer, handles, mirrors, etc.)

For more details, we have made an article on the subject .

    4. Our selection of favorite scrambler motorcycles

We will not talk about the Ducati Scrambler and other motorcycles released from dealerships with the name motorcycle scrambler . We have dedicated an article to this subject.

    The Crooked Motorcycle SR400

We like the minimalist aspect of this preparation, the short rear with the suede saddle, the LED lights perfectly integrated into the buckle or the handlebars.

Along the same lines, there's the Triumph -based Auto Fabrica Type 20 :

We like the mix of black between matte black, shiny black and satin black.

Like the preparation of Crooked , this Triumph is sober, elegant and has a lot of charm. In addition, this thick saddle makes us want to take its handlebars to chain the miles.

Here is another Triumph , built by the Lyonnais of Baak Motocyclettes :

This is one of BAAK 's latest creations. We recognize their style in the choice of pieces and this choice of color which is very successful.

The combination of this light blue and brown suits her perfectly.

And to finish with a more unusual preparation, here is a Harley XL1200 N prepared by the Thais of K-Speed .

They offer us a very worked scrambler motorcycle on a Harley base. Many modifications have made it possible to achieve this result.

We like the new tank accompanied by this typically scrambler motorcycle saddle. We appreciate this exhaust outlet with the 2 large silencers.

Nice work on the saddle and the rear buckle, which you can see all the more when you see the shape of the original frame.

For my taste, only a front fender is missing. Indeed, I find this part a bit empty.

And you, what is your favorite scrambler bike? Tell us in the comments and we'll add it to this article.

    Bonjour LUKALBAN,
Malheureusement ce modèle n’est pas facile à travailler pour faire un scrambler. Ce modèle convient mieux pour un café racer.
